Becoming a member of the SWPA-SDAC is simple and well worth it! A required $30 one-time membership is collected upon registering as a member. You do not have to be a member of SDAC National to be a member of our club; however, all serving officers and administrative assistants must maintain an ongoing membership with the National SDAC in order to retain that position. We strongly urge that our members seriously consider becoming a member of the National SDAC, for it is the main asset to our community in terms of providing enthusiasts of Shelby Dodges with a yearly event, newsletters, and recognition amongst other Shelby enthusiasts. DONATIONS are accepted at each meeting in order to build the treasury. Donations are not required, but we do ask that our members keep in mind that the building of our treasury will lead to refilling t-shirt and decal orders, website operating costs, SDAC goody bag donations, club promotion materials (brochures, banners, magazine ads, monthly newsletter), and possible sponsoring opportunities or a future club car.

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS:

I need to own a Turbo Mopar or Shelby Dodge vehicle to become a member of The Steel City Chapter.

Absolutely not true. The only requirement to become a member are that you are an enthusiast of the Shelby Dodge automobiles or Turbo Mopar vehicles in general, whether you own one or not, and you pay the one-time membership fee of $30. It is suggested you sign up for a National SDAC membership as well.

Being a member of a club doesn't benefit me.

On the contrary. Most of our members can state that by joining our club, one of the greatest benefits is the comradery. Subsequently, you now have new found fellow car show/cruise participants with your kind of vehicle. Most importantly, if you are in need of assistance with your vehicle, parts, or just someone else to share your interest of this hobby with, then there are over two dozen members within the SWPA-SDAC who are always interested in helping out one another!

I've never heard of the SWPA-SDAC so your chapter must not do much events wise.

As we continue to grow as a chapter and try new events, last year alone shows just how much we do as a chapter. Since the club became recognized as a chapter, it has been the goal of members to (schedule permitting) make a strong attendance at SDAC conventions and National Mopar events, being Chryslers at Carlisle as well as the Mopar Nationals at National Trail Speedway. In addition, we have been doing a lot more locally, especially within the last year, since more and more members have completed their projects that they wish to take to shows around the 'Burgh, such as the Caste Village cruises on Sunday evenings in Baldwin, the Irwin Cruise-In at the Norwin Hills Shopping Center in Norwin/North Huntingdon. Members have also attended local shows at the Greene County Airport, Waynesburg Memorial Day Parade, Scottdale Summer Fling, Cedarcreek's August-Fest, along with many more! We often participate at Test 'n Tunes at our local drag strip, Pittsburgh Raceway Park.

I am a member of another chapter of SDAC, but am interested in joining yours, too.

Sounds terrific! Anyone can apply for membership with our chapter, referring back to the first misconception explaining that as long as you have a love for Shelby Dodge vehicles, you're more than welcome to join up with us! However, our main membership base is within the Greater Pittsburgh Region, as we do not wish to step over our boundaries which cover the eastern OH/western PA border, West Virginia, east of Pittsburgh (central PA).
